Flu Vaccine
Influenza (“the flu”) spreads easily through our community each year. Vaccination is the most effective way to reduce your risk of becoming unwell and to protect those around you who may be more vulnerable.
Who is eligible for a free flu shot under the National Immunisation Program?
- Children aged 6 months to under 5 years
- Adults aged 65 years and over
- Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
- People with certain medical conditions (talk to your GP)
Private flu vaccinations are also available for everyone else at a small cost.
When to get vaccinated
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) recommends getting vaccinated from mid-April onwards to provide best protection through winter.
